Joanne is now free of her IV, foley catheter, and epidural catheter. It's great to move about the room without pushing all those machines. Her first "real food" was a USANA nutrimeal, of course! I don't consider beef broth and jello "real food". She now will hopefully slowly upgrade to Trader Joe's organic yogurt, bananas and soup (I went on a field trip). Bad news about losing the epidural - she now feels pain and was quite surprised to really see, and feel, the extent of her incision which is stem to stern. That is REALLY BIG on a little person. Our next challenge is to adjust and tolerate the oral pain meds.
Here's the best news of all: we go home tomorrow!

That is So wonderful!!! I'm sorry Deb and I will be leaving almost the day you return. Please know we are thinking of you and wishing you all sorts of wonderful moments - with your body adapting well to the oral pain medication and all your body's functions continuing to do a marvelous job! Deb and I will contact you again after we return, but Jen is here all week - so feel free to call her if you need any help - with anything!
with healing warmth,
April, Jen, Deb
Whoo-hoooo!!!!
Glad to hear the exciting news of Fr'ee-dom! I'm sorry for your present pain, but we're all going to get on that a.s.a.p. so that your pain-body just forgets about it. While that's taking effect, here's an alternative that worked well for me--
Remedy: liquid homeopathy from Be Well Homeopathy Inc, Arnica Plus Drops
and gel from same company, Arnica Well Gel
I got these from Dr. Ara Elmajian in Vancouver, Canada, but someone may have it locally. The address online is www.bewellhomeo.com or 877-438-3042.
Also, another good feel good and promotes healing is infrared heat pads (placed around incision).
Must run as Z is on my case, but we send you love and smiles, and we celebrate with you, this last night at VM!
Homecooked meals are on their way, and your own comfortable home and bed! Ahh.
Life is grand, isn't it? You're reminding us to be in the now and appreciate life's minutiae, the mundane, and all we take for granted on a daily basis.
Hugs to you both,
Tess and Z
I am sooo very happy that you are coming home! So relieved in fact that I have finally allowed myself to collapse and am already in bed. I will take your shawl in for a special blessing tomorrow at 5:30pm and will bring it to you at YOUR convenience. It is long enough for the two of you to get wrapped up in together.
On a logistical note, I'll be sending an email to Janet later with the names & numbers to post of the "angels" who have volunteered to coordinate a few things to ease you back into home.
Please consider posting some visiting boundaries to those of us mother hens who want to see your faces!
I cannot tell you how happy I am at this moment that you will be home.
Blessings,
Sharon Allen
Ace! Good job with the poops! I snacked on WAY too many cherries yesterday and it would appear that your G.I. tract had sympathy "movements".... :-) You'll be home soon and the kitties will be all over you with smoochies and love.
Sending love to you both from a random hotel room in Florida,
Ace
That's the best news!!! You're going to be home! Can I be a "helping angel" too? I'd love to be able to bring you something you like - or want - just name it!
Does it hurt to laugh? If so - I'm sorry - but I hope you're finding lots to laugh about! It's healing. Best to you and Janet.

Well, hooray!! The promise of freedom is very sweet news, indeed. The trip home will seem wondrous to both of you, but will also be exhausting. Sharon's idea of posting boundaries for visitors is super so that you don't suffer an overdose of TLC. How about having one of your guardian angels post a schedule for all those yummy home cooked meals that people want to bring to you? Please don't try to be super strong and take care of it all by yourself. You give us a gift by allowing us to to show our love by bringing you a meal or weeding your garden. We look forward to having you at home again.
Hugs to both,
Etta
Well, Hot Snot!! We're back in business!! Attagirl Joanne!
Yeah, it's going to suck for a while with the pain, but you'll find each day brings a little more relief, and you'll be out in the garden breathing in the goodness in no time.
Until then, stay within yourself, push yourself to improve (but don't shove!!) and we'll see you soon.
(BTW, the Hot Snot biz is an old Paul Newman expression from his auto racing days, of which he is quite an accomplished driver)
Love you both. YAY!

Dear Joanne and Janet, I have only been able to read the blog the last couple of days but I have been praying for you and thinking about you for MANY days. I am so glad that you get to go home. I am visualizing big hugs which distract from any pain and little hugs which keep all food and liquid moving down ward. We look forward to helping with your healing in anyway we can.
Janet, good thing you are not on the search committee. Who could have guessed?!
Love and hugs via email until we can see you!
Mara
Well Joanne~ it sounds like angels are certainly prepared for your return home...I visualize you treading gingerly through the garden between long naps...
Spirit has certainly put into high gear everything possible to support your healing~
You are surrounded by dear hearts..
Hugs, Mara and Natalie
Im too far away to help but yu know im thinking of you , get strong, luv Joanie
As I'm writing this morning, I'm thinking about how wonderful you will both feel as you walk in your front door.
Welcome home!!!
Sharon C.
Much rain all night, you two. So, I'm asking for a dry I-5 with little traffic. Let it rain everywhere else. Did I really say that? Hmmm. This CA girl must be slippin' 'cause I love sun, sun, sun. Travel safely on Angel's wings and land like cats, on all fours. Hugs, Tess and Z
I'm thinking I'm so happy, Janet's so happy, we are all of us so dang happy and you, our darling Joanne, probably feel like hell! This well might be the toughest day so far...nothing like a little morphine withdrawal to ramp up the pain and lower the spirits! Well, Scarlett, tomorrow is certainly another day...and one that we are apparently already celebrating.
We love you and, as Red Green says," We're pulling for you. Keep you stick on the ice!'

I'm sitting at the railway station got a ticket to my destination, mmhm. "Homeward Bound" and back to bed, kitties and a tidal wave of love. God is great. Arnica is good. Oxy is really good. Enjoy the blessings of all three, just remember that you can't OD on the first one. I'll come visit as soon as the colonel says it's okay.
Love,
Rev Jen
Joanne & Janet,
So glad to hear the GREAT news that you will both be home soon in your own bed. Take it easy and don't push yourselves. Sending tons of love and prayers from West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Love, Carol, Gyle & kids :)
Hey lovelies,
By the time you read this you'll be home!!!! Yes!!!
What a relief. What a blessing.
I've been seriously challanged mastering this bloggin thing, but Joanne, you have been with me daily, especially on my walks and my putterings in the garden. I've been having a running conversation with you and the powers that be casting my love out to the universe to help you, in whatever ways are appropriate.
Keep breathing into that pain. Hope those drugs get in under control, rapido.
love to you and Janet
Devon
Hi gals!
So glad to get back from our midwest trip and get the good news. May you rest now and re-group. Many hugs and love from your friends in Texas.

Hello and Welcome Home!
I'm glad to think of you being home again. I hope your garden greets you well.
I intended to show up for knitting tonight, but we are off to New York this night for a week, so figure me in the gathering in absentia.
I shall continue to hold you in healing thought and will look forward to seeing you after I return.
Many hugs,
Meril and the gang
Been thinking, visualizing, praying with you and now celebrating too....the good news of going home, the real food, and all the love. Wherever you are, you're surrounded with love and healing energy, Joanne and Janet!
Adding mine too,
Janet Estep
Janet and Joanne!
I just heard of your news and rejoice in the positive nature in which you have chosen to follow this path!
Blessings to both of you. I join in the throng of those who love you to offer you my support and my light as you continue your journey.
With Divine Love,
Janet Kingsley
Just caught up with the blog after our convention and the first couple of legs of our road trip to Florida--we're in Savannah tonight and tomorrow night.
It's good to hear you're heading home Joanne. We're envisioning pain-free days and we're thinking of you a lot. I'll send thoughts from 40,000 feet when I go weightless on Saturday.
Love from us both to both of you.
Chuck & Dee
