Today Joanne went in for blood work and got the bad news that her white and red blood cell counts are way down. We didn't expect this to happen until she had been through several rounds of chemo. The M.D. wanted to start some strong drugs that have unpleasant side effects. We have decided to wait until Friday. We have a naturopath appointment that day and will then have another blood draw and make a decision.
We are both discouraged. The context of our day didn't help. Bennie, our 14 year old cat is dying from end-stage kidney disease and we will probably be euthanizing him on Wednesday. It's so painful to see him suffer. We euthanized another cat just a few months ago who had cancer. Looks like it's time to adopt some kittens. Also, today I opened the cabinet below the sink and discovered pools of water and coffee grounds - major plumbing problem to be fixed tomorrow!
So, I am requesting that all of you powerful visualizers see Joanne's bone marrow as a bustling factory working overtime to produce lots of cells. Our vision is that cell counts are on the rise.

Janet and Joanne,
Thank you for sharing both the ups and the downs. I have already stared visualizing those blood cells expanding and multiplying - albeit on the basic food groups of pizza and ice cream.
Having lost a canine family member recently, I ache for you and your feline family members. I second the thoughts about kittens. I know that we have had second thoughnts about the 16-week old terror, Cait who has joined our family but the joy far outway the chewing and peeing in inappropriate places. Yes, I meant terror rather than terrier.
In prayer and love,
Sharon C.
Oh gosh, you two. What a week. I'm still remotely (from Indiana, Georgia and Texas today) holding you both and Benn-o and all the others in my heart. Please remind Benn-O that his Aunt E. loves him so much.
Thinking gentle thoughts, breathing deeply and lovingly.....
xoxo,
Ace
Hugs to you both . . .
Sending you and the kitties much love, and healing thoughts. I'll be envisioning your white and red cell counts at just the right amount, Joanne, and that they are perfectly shaped and functional. I'll keep you in my prayers as you move through this time with Bennie.
Remember the saying about how God only gives you as much as you can handle. Breath deeply, with gratitude, for the immensity of our human experience. And, remember, you're both Champs.
Warmly,
Tess
I was just transferring some VHS movies from long ago onto iMovie and one section was Christmas at your house when Bennie was a kitten and had just raided his presents, drolled all over a mouse and fallen in love with a flashy magic wand thingy. He, Rob and all of us were just babies then. We love you and our thoughts are with you each night when we light the candle for both of you and now for Bennie too.

Bennie the Red Cat has had the best life that anyone could give him, filled with love, he knows he is cherished and if he could say thanks for loving me, he would.
Now then, about this cell count biz...I am confident that some of the low counts may be due to the recent lack of appetite and low food/fuel intake, chemo, meds, etc...whose body wouldn't be wonky after all that?
We're with you all the way, from near and far across the Universe, sending our love and strength.
Peace,
Jerry Horner

Love and sympathy to you both and your feline family. The joy you shared will always be with you -- laughing, playing, cuddling and purring.
