Waiting Over

I'm posting this in Joanne's private room as she is eating solid "mystery" food that was just delivered. The surgery was very short - and very successful. Jeffrey took out the old kinked port and inserted a brand new one in a different area - all is working well and he is quite pleased.

We are not on the oncology floor this time, but the short-stay unit. It seems much more upbeat here! We will be leaving tomorrow morning, barring any unforeseen circumstances. We are both quite relieved. I will be sleeping, with the help of drugs, in a chair tonight - all out of cots.
It's only one night. Many thanks to all of you for your prayers, your poems, your support.
All is well.

Thank you for this wonderful blog that helps us keep up with your progress - a wonderful tool to catch up with you as we return from two weeks of travel. Sounds like you've been on a bit of a roller coaster, but so glad to hear that things are "unkinked" now so that healing can continue!! We thought of you when we were in Cinque Terra and visualized you both as healthy hikers along that gorgeous trail. We enjoyed a fresh seafood pizza in one of the villages complete with local mussels, clams, shrimp all still in the shells garnished with calamari circles. We toasted your recovery with mugs of local beer - hope you felt the positive vibes! Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Yea Ace! Yea Janet! Yippee! Now you can go home and rest up now that you're unkinked -- I've just learned to play Scrabble (yeah, I do live under a rock) and when I go home to visit you next month I'm gonna kick yer ass. I don't care HOW bald you are! ;)~ Oh, and for that matter I did my first hard sudoku puzzle properly (with a pen) today! You're a "mastah teachah", Ace....

Much love to you both... And rest up Oh Verbal One -- I have Scrabble and WILL TRAVEL!

Love you tons,
Ace

Gosh it was good to see you this weekend, Joanne. You looked beautiful and I loved seeing the sparkle in your whole face.

Come late November, you'll be on the other side of all this.

Watch out world!

Love,
Gwen
