Joanne is spending much of her precious energy these days discerning how to distribute her possessions to the people and organizations in her life. We obviously have handled all the legal will stuff. Now she is experiencing joy and delight in gifting her art supplies, clothing, art and accessories. Generosity is certainly its own reward, and she particularly enjoys experiencing the delight and gratitude of the recipients. This process is bittersweet, tinged with sadness and poignancy.
This dying process has forced both of us to complete many things we have started, purge possessions and tie up loose ends in our lives. This is one of her many gifts to me.

The warm blessing that you ARE, Joanne, will shine always. That is the gift we will all treasure.
You are both walking this road with such elegance and grace. Hugs. Long, quiet hugs. Lots of them. Nancy Kennell

Thank you for the gift of your blog. Thanks, also, Joanne, for the continued gift of Janet's presence at church. She continues to brighten our services with her enthusiasm. And, your spirit, Joanne, is with us too! When I think of the both of you, I gain strength from your courage, honesty, and grace during this time. You are teaching us wonderful lessons about life and death. That gift is priceless. Many hugs and prayers your way. Much love, Kathi
We are thinking of you both and send our love in shining cross-border light. Wendy & Gillian
Was getting ready to send you a card via snail mail. Decided that an entry here could better convey my thoughts and feelings. Been following this blog from the beginning, keeping you both in prayer. As a child I was the only grandchild to Joanne's and my grandmother for seven years. The day Joanne was born I was ecstatic. Finally, I was not alone. I spent alot of time at grandmom's house, where Joanne and her parents lived. I was so happy to help with her, entertain her, play with her. In my eyes she was like my little sister. As her sisters and brother came along I enjoyed entertaining and playing with them, but it was Joanne that was the special one in my heart. And so she still is. My love to you my dear cousin. And so to you Janet who is so dear to her.
It was incredibly life affirming to see you both at the Bite of Bellingham on Saturday! Joanne's smile made our day. We should all have that kind of grace and courage. You are in our prayers daily.

Love to you both.

I've been thinking of you often these last few weeks--wanted to thank you both for the example of grace and courage, and what comes when living with one's heart open.
