Bumps on the Road

Two challenges have arisen. One, Joanne is now quite anemic. She will be getting blood transfusions all day tomorrow - so obviously we are here until at least Monday. Also, it appears she may have an infection due to spikes of fever, so if this continues, we will need to start antibiotics this afternoon. Disappointing, especially since I am so eager to get us back home. I am so aware that a hospital is the WORST place to heal. Now I know this will sound weird to most of you, but I also get weary of eating all my meals out. I'd rather cook my own. Hopefully today Joanne will be able to start eating that great hospital "food" that appears on her tray.

We also got the sobering news today that Joanne's chemo protocol will involve TWO days in Seattle, six days apart every chemo cycle. One will involve an overnight stay in the hospital.
Since my work schedule really picks up in September and October, we will need to rally the troops for transportation help.

Apple did come through - gave me the new super-powerful I-Pod that came out this week!

I've kept tabs on the surgery via Sharry and Jennifer - Hurrah for the good news on the surgery!!! Bruce and I have been sending our healing prayers as fast and as hard as we can!

No worries -- they're merely bumps. The troops will indeed rally and all will be well. Focus on what you want -- it's worked fantastically already!

Love to you both,
E.

Bruce and I have been talking - we are traveling during the week the next couple of months AND will be preparing quick, freezer meals on the weekends. While we can't help with transportation, could we share vegetarian meals? We can understand how Janet would not want restaurant food and Joanne definitely will be ready to be done with hospital fare.
Take care,
Sharon

Visualizing quickly rebounding blood cells and retreating infection so that you can be home surveying the garden while this beautiful weather holds. So happy about the successful surgery!
Love to you both. Unfortunately, I won't be part of any transportation teams any time soon but I can still send prayers with my leg elevated :)
Much love to you both.

Hiya gals,

Well, golly, I'm visualizing blood cells in the shape of very tiny little steak and spinach salads (organic of course and very high in iron) swimming through your veins, Joanne. Add to that an antibiotic chaser (Chateau Virginia Mason) and you've got quite the fluid meal. Much love from the Feet in the Air gals.

When we can, we'll help with transport. I always love a chance to visit Macail.

I trust that a delicious meal was prepared last evening just for you, Joanne, in spite of the reputation of hospital food: And, I trust it's digesting well, providing much nourishment and energy to you!!!

May your next meal be sitting in your room as I type, whilst a bite in a spoonful to your lips is in transit, and perhaps one dribble on your chin, a sign of your sheer enjoyment of yet another meal provided just for YOU.

OR, would you instead insist upon a Banana-Blast Shake, delivered especiale by Ms. Peggie, just so you can hear the shake, shake, shake of the blendo-ball, and hear the song they sang at Convention introducing the flavor? If Peggie DIDN'T share that with you, you must have her sing and dance it because she was just too funny with it yesterday.

I appreciate Rev. Jen's culinary treats, as they sound like they, too, are already coarsing through your veins; and, Flyin "Ace" Erin also speaks my sentiments about any "bumps". You've already beat the big ones, and these little ones you've beat, too. They're just pesky little mosquitos and they need to be reminded that they aren't allowed to host with our ever wonderful and gracious Joanne Kotjan.

Wishing you delicious fantasies while receiving your new blood today. Maybe they've found a super hero's blood that will help improve your pickleball game with George. I'm sure he's been practicing these last weeks . . .

Should one of your chemo treatments land on a weekend during your 6 day cycles (Fri eve, Sat to Sun eve), I can likely drive you while Z is with his Dad. Just let me know.

Big hugs,
Tess and Z

As I have been working round-the-clock with my new classroom and teammates at school this year, I have had you in my thoughts and prayers. I think Charlie could hear my sigh of relief as I read about "dead tumors" being removed from your sweet body. How absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I continue to be out here on the periphery of your large and loving team, sending my visions to rally with yours.
Much love to you both, as always,
KarenSue

I had such happiness in my heart for the two of as I read of the most successful surgery! Huzzah! The bumps shall be a distant memory soon, and healing will take a front seat.

Don't you think it's soon time for a B'ham to Virginia Mason transporter to be built? I hope the scientific community is working to make the technology of Star Trek a reality in the near future, eliminating the burden of finding rides for Joanne's trips. On the brighter side, I'm sure the time spent in the car is a wonderful chance to spend time together.

Sending lots of healing thoughts and love from the Bay area!

Hey Dear Ones,
I'd be happy to be a Monday or Friday driver. Amd I promise not to be a "New York Driver". Well, kind of not.

J&J,

Employment doesn't permit me to offer transport, and cooking has never been my thing, so I shall stick to prayer.

Beautiful new red blood cells will be visualized, and I will imagine that icecream has recently been found to be an excellent source of iron. Not surprising news. I've always preferred mine cold enough to bend the spoon.

Love,
Nancy Kennell
