Joanne walked herself to surgery at 2:20 pm. Yes, it's true. Joanne and five of us were sitting in the "Surgery Waiting Area", aka twilight zone, at Virginia Mason. It's very crowded with other waiters. They came for Joanne and I was not allowed to accompany her to the OR. I attempted to pull the "nurse card" and Jennifer Yocum, our pastor, pulled the "pastor card", all to no avail.
It was not how I fantasized saying good bye to my sweetie. It was the way it was. So, I'm surrounded right now by dear friends, Carol Peringer, Sharon Allen, Kathleen Carie and Jennifer Yocum. We presented Joanne with a half-finished prayer shawl and several other gifts from dear friends. Now we wait - it will probably be a 2.5 hr surgery. We wait, pray, and laugh together.
Stay tuned.

Joanne is in surgery as I write this. Another candle has been lit. Blessings and prayers are being showered upon her and the power of that healing love is working its magic. Right now, this very moment, I believe it to be true.

I know that waiting area well. Sending white light to both Joanne and those in wait.

I've been holding you in my thoughts all day. I'm glad you are surrounded by so many that love you.
It is good to be together while you wait...to breathe together, pray together and even laugh together. My prayer is with you all, especially you Janet; and for Joanne that the surgeon's skill will be great. I pray that the comfort drugs tonight will be perfect and that Joanne's complete recovery will be swift.
I'm joining with God's loving arms around you,
Kathleen

Ditto for every loving sentiment made above. The lovely healing ditty has been passed around the community and all are singing for you both.
Well, Joanne, I did it--- finally got that hair taken care of. Now, on to the rest as I told you. It was a powerful testament today as you entered surgery.
Seeeeee? Your Prayer Shawl looks Divine around lovely you. And, it's awesome to see that big group hug, so much love . . .

If what we focus on is what we get, I see Joanne smiling her beautiful smile. The doctor has just said, you have the healthest tissue I have ever seen. (not having seen Janet's or mine:) Only healthy stuff is left in there.
